Course Overview.

The Leadership Essentials Certificate program is an experiential and interactive 30-hour program designed to help build a solid foundation to increase communication and understanding between leaders and their teams. Each course is designed to be innovative and fresh, providing real solutions to real workplace situations without the boring data that we have all heard before.

The premise of this certificate is simple: In theory everything works. But it’s the implementation and follow through that actually matters. You can google many ways to be a better leader, but the question is… how do you actually do it and what are tried and true methods that actually work?

Course Curriculum.

The Essentials for Leadership Certificate will cover the following curriculum for being a genuine leader in today’s workplace:

An Ownership Mindset

  • An introduction to understanding an ownership mindset
  • Identifying Values and Personal Mission Statements
  • Showing Up: What it means to stay in the game even when you don’t want to

Introduction to Communication Styles

  • Understanding our own individual preferences
  • Learning about others preferences
  • Recognizing how to adapt to other communication styles to get the results you desire

An Introduction to Psychological Safety

  • Understanding what it means to feel safe enough to be vulnerable
  • Exploring creativity, curiosity and diverse ideas
  • Spotting the safe vs toxic environment
  • Exploring bias, gaslighting and microaggressions

Receiving and Giving Feedback

  • A Guide to Radical Candor: Demonstrating you care while challenging directly
  • Exploring various tools to assess performance without bias

  • Explore that time management is about time mastery

Recruiting to Organizational Values

  • Learning to develop values based interview questions
  • Practicing the art of the interview
  • Understanding behavioural cues in the interview process

Course Curriculum.

A Leader’s Role In Onboarding

  • Moving beyond orientation to integration
  • Understanding what it means to do what it takes to have a fully functioning member of the team as quickly as possible

Recognition and Rewards

  • Capitalizing on communication preferences
  • Understanding motivators (intrinsic and extrinsic)
  • Developing tools and methodologies to recognize and reward (even when your organization doesn’t have something standardized)
  • Understanding the role recognition and rewards play in Employee Engagement

Terminating to Values

  • Evaluating and assessing performance: Have you done everything you can as a leader?
  • Understanding the law
  • Practicing the dialogue
  • Ensuring you are prepared for a tough conversation

Instruction Fees.

Instructional Fees
$3,000 per participant plus GST

Fees include Textbooks, Software, and Other Required Materials
Elevated HR Solutions will provide any required training materials at no additional cost to participants.

By utilizing the Canada-Alberta Job Grant, you may be able to receive reimbursement of up to 66%, but you will need to pay the full cost upfront once the grant is approved. Participants must be also be eligible trainees for the Canada-Alberta Job Grant.

Training Delivery Method: Remote Learning

This course is delivered in a remote learning environment where participants are immersed in the concepts from start to finish; experiential programs are put in place through distance learning.
